Business Insurance: "Hurricanes Likely to Create Domino Effect of Claims, Litigation"

An article in the September 19, 2017, edition of Business Insurance queried lawyers Kent Adams, regional managing partner of Wilson Elser’s Houston and Beaumont, Texas, offices; Wendy Hopkins, partner and head of the global practice group at DAC Beachcroft in London; and Andrés Amunátegui, partner and head of the Latin America practice at DAC Beachcroft in Chile on claims and litigation that likely will transcend those caused by flooding and wind damage in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The three, also representing newly formed Legalign Global ™ offered their perspectives on business interruption losses, environmental and toxic exposures, and other liabilities embodied in “the law of unforeseen consequences” that will present serious challenges to insurers and reinsurers for months and likely years to come.
