O’Brien Invited to Participate in Department of Homeland Security-DOJ IoT Roundtable

November 8, 2017

Michael O’Brien (Partner-White Plains) was one of 30 participants in a Department of Homeland Security-Department of Justice roundtable discussion on the security risks related to the Internet of Things (IoT). Among the private and public sector professionals who attended were representatives from federal agencies, private practice attorneys, law professors and technology specialists, all of whom have studied IoT issues and understand the liabilities that arise from IoT. The objective of this multidisciplinary panel was to develop fresh approaches to the complex problems that IoT devices present and to hopefully inform internal policy discussions that the DHS and DOJ will have on these issues. To facilitate discussion, four hypothetical situations were presented for discussion. Following the roundtable discussion, participants were given a tour of the National Cyber Security and Communications Integration Center.
