April 25, 2018

On April 9, 2018, the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee co-sponsored with the Westchester Women's Bar Association (WWBA) and the New York State Bar Association's Committee on Diversity and Inclusion a program entitled “Diversity in the Legal Profession”  in the White Plains office.   The featured guest speakers included the new Administrative Judge for the Ninth Judicial District, the Hon. Kathie E. Davidson, and New York State Supreme Court Justices Janet C. Malone and Maria Vasquez-Doles.  Jacqueline Hattar (Partner-White Plains), co-chair of the WWBA’s Diversity and Litigation Committees, also served on the panel, along with Maria Matos, Counsel of the Character & Fitness Committee, Appellate Division, First Department, and Stephanie Melowsky, Vice President at PCSB Bank.  Judge Davidson is the first African American woman to serve in her new role. There was a lively discussion among the panelists and the attendees regarding promoting diversity in the legal profession, and the importance of mentorship and sponsorship. Wilson Elser attorneys who attended included John Flannery (RMP-White Plains), Jerry Ruderman (Of Counsel-White Plains), Patricia Lacy (Of Counsel-White Plains), Siobhainin Funchion (Associate-White Plains), Janeen Thomas (Associate-White Plains), Judith Frantz-Zuckerman (Of Counsel-White Plains) and Janene Marasciullo (Partner-New York).
