San Francisco Attorney Magazine Covers Walsh at Launch of BASF’s “Women’s Impact Network: No Glass Ceiling 2.0”

March 15, 2019

Blair Walsh (Of Counsel-San Francisco) was featured in an article in San Francisco Attorney magazine (cover story, Spring 2019) highlighting the recent revitalization of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s women’s initiative, the “Women’s Impact Network: No Glass Ceiling 2.0 (WIN),” which launched on November 29, 2018, with its inaugural conference, “Step In, Step Together, Step Up: Reshaping the Culture for the Modern Professional Woman.”  The conference was attended by more than 150 attorneys, judges and community leaders, including Blair (Women’s Impact Network Co-Chair) and Lisa Passalacqua (Of Counsel-San Francisco), the San Francisco WAVE representative.

In three sessions, the men and women panelists discussed the steps the WIN Steering Committee identified as imperative to achieve its goals. The founders of the original “No Glass Ceiling” Task Force, created by San Francisco Superior Court Judge Angela M. Bradstreet in 2001, shared their stories and discussed the work that remains to be done in the first panel, “Step In—How We Got Here.”  The second panel, “Step Together—How to Have the Hard Conversations,” provided a male perspective on gender disparity in the profession.  And the third, “Step Up—Engaging in the Culture Shift,” addressed the need for changes to deeply ingrained institutional practices.

In sharing what drew her to get involved in the initiative, Blair explained: “The difference is this brings together all the stakeholders: men, women and institutions. That joining of forces—in dialogue, working together—is unique and, for me, one of the main reasons this initiative stood out from other organizations with similar goals.”
