Wilson Elser and MindMeld Studios Produce Videos Approved for Human Trafficking State Mandatory Training

January 30, 2020

“Human Trafficking: State Mandatory Training,” a video collaboration between Wilson Elser and California-based MindMeld Studios, is approved for state and local public entities to administer. Featuring Marisa Trasatti (Partner-Baltimore), the course provides versions for various states, including California mandatory versions for supervisors and employees that meet California State Regulations SB 970 and AB 2034.

Under SB 970, California hotels and motels must train all employees on human trafficking awareness by January 1, 2020. The legislation mandates a minimum of 20 minutes of “effective interactive training.” Currently, four states (California, Connecticut, Minnesota and New Jersey) mandate training on human trafficking and many others are considering similar legislation or recommending employer- or industry-focused education.

The course includes tools and tips on how to spot and prevent trafficking and trafficking-related civil liability and provides instructions on what to do when encountering a suspected trafficking incident on business premises, within a supply chain or in daily life.
