Wilson Elser Launches Cyber Class Action Defense Team

March 8, 2022

Wilson Elser’s highly regarded Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice has developed a foundational emphasis on the class actions we see increasing in complexity in the cyber space. Cases are becoming more duplicative and overlapping, with motions filed in multiple jurisdictions during the same time period.

With our national network of offices, we are well positioned to launch a coordinated multi-front defense in these situations. To that end, the firm has assembled a Cyber Class Action Defense team to serve your related needs.

Team members work across disciplines and office locations to counter the complex claims that increasingly characterize this area of the law, in many cases obtaining early dismissals of the named plaintiffs or defeating motions for class certification.

The team’s core competencies include:

  • Simplifying the most complicated cases by bringing motions for either federal multidistrict consolidation or state and federal coordination.
  • Successfully obtaining early dismissals or defeating motions for class certification.
  • Conducting class- and merit-based discovery, pursing interlocutory appeals of certification rulings and administering class action settlements.
  • Developing varied strategies that are individualized for defending class action litigation in keeping with our clients’ objectives.
