Wiegmann Helps Young Guatemalan Migrant Secure Dismissal in Pro Bono Deportation Case

March 14, 2022

Yakov Wiegmann (Of Counsel-San Francisco, CA) secured the dismissal of a pro bono client’s deportation case in San Francisco Immigration Court. The client came to the United States from Guatemala as a teen, fleeing parental abuse. Yakov and his multi-firm team obtained an order appointing the young man’s uncle as his guardian, which in turn allowed them to secure Special Immigrant Juvenile status for the client. The team then persuaded U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to dismiss the young man’s deportation case, and the Immigration Court granted the motion to dismiss. The young man is now preparing to apply for his Green Card and become a U.S. permanent resident.
