The Ledger Quotes Casiano on Polk County, Florida, School Board Settlement

Sergio Casiano (Partner-Miami, FL) was quoted in “Polk School Board Agrees to $300,000 Settlement with Former Physics Teacher,” an article in the December 29, 2022, edition of The Ledger, concerning a former teacher with Polk County Public Schools who received a $300,000 settlement after he sued the district claiming its termination process violated his civil rights. According to Sergio, "Civil rights victories under the 42 U.S.C. § 1983, unrelated to a claim of discrimination or excessive use of force, are not seen very often. I am personally not aware of an award of this magnitude for a school employee in recent history."
