Wilson Elser’s Tom Quinn Inducted as 115th President of the Essex County Bar Association

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (May  7, 2013) –Thomas F. Quinn, a partner in the New Jersey office of national law firm Wilson Elser, was inducted as the 115th president of the Essex County Bar Association (ECBA) at its annul election of officers and trustees on April 29, 2013.

With 3,000 members, the Essex County bar is the second-largest bar association in the state of New Jersey, only surpassed in size by the New Jersey State Bar.

As Mr. Quinn explained in his induction speech, his platform as president encompasses the three critical missions of the ECBA: (1) to promote prompt and efficient justice for its clients; (2) to advocate for courteous and even-handed treatment of lawyers; and (3) to fight for a judiciary that has a sufficient number of judges to perform their jobs and to enhance an atmosphere where they feel appreciated, respected and a valued part of the justice system.

The latter addresses the judicial vacancy crisis in Essex County, which Mr. Quinn is assuming as he steps into his new role.

Mr. Quinn has been involved with the ECBA for many years. He previously served as a trustee, secretary, treasurer, vice president and president-elect.

Additionally, during his tenure on the board, he spearheaded a number of important initiatives.  The most notable being his chairmanship of the 2009 Constitutional Convention, which, among other things, resulted in several important amendments to the ECBA constitution and bylaws, bringing the organization into full compliance with the then newly adopted good governance provisions of the IRS code.

Mr. Quinn is also a member of New Jersey State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of New Jersey.

Mr. Quinn’s civil litigation practice spans 30 years and focuses on professional liability defense and insurance coverage. He represents lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers and other professionals in malpractice actions, and represents insurance companies in coverage disputes and rendering coverage opinions. He also has a general commercial litigation practice handling ERISA and environmental matters, including class actions.

Mr. Quinn’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. Since 2009, he has been named a leading lawyer in the Litigation: Insurance category by Chambers USA;  earned an AV® Preeminent™ Rating by Martindale Hubbell; selected for inclusion in New Jersey Super Lawyers, 2005-2013; and selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America in the Insurance Law area, 2006-2013.

Mr. Quinn graduated cum laude with his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law (1981), where he served on the Seton Hall Law Review. He earned is Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University (1978).
