Attorneys from Tropio & Morlan Join Wilson Elser’s Los Angeles Office
Three Attorneys Embrace National Platform; Boutique Firm Closes Its Doors
LOS ANGELES (June 12, 2017) – National law firm Wilson Elser announced today that three attorneys from Woodland Hills−based boutique law firm Tropio & Morlan have joined the firm’s Los Angeles office.
Partner Scott Tropio and of counsel Ingrid Calle and Daniel Hurwitz have moved their practice to Wilson Elser, and after 22 years, Tropio & Morlan has closed its doors.
“As one can imagine, a move like this is bittersweet,” said Tropio, who has worked for national law firms in the past. “More sweet than bitter, however. Much of our client base comprises regional and national companies, therefore Wilson Elser, with its full-service, national platform, will enable us to better service our existing clients with a full complement of legal practices and services as well as grow new relationships. Though our track record of success is impressive, especially for a firm of five attorneys, we were constrained by our size and geographic reach.
“We’ve known Scott and his team for many years,” said David Eisen, regional managing partner of the Los Angeles office. “Their collaborative work style and accomplished litigation skills are well aligned with how we serve Wilson Elser clients. We will realize significant synergies with the Tropio group as they help bolster our foremost capabilities in Southern California.”
Led by Tropio, with more than 300 cases and approximately 50 jury verdicts to his credit, the team’s practice focuses on product liability; toxic tort; trucking, premises and construction accident liability; and commercial litigation. They defend clients in civil litigation in state and federal courts in California and throughout the western United States.
For the past 10 years, Tropio has acted as Western States Regional Counsel for toxic tort and personal injury matters for one of the largest oil refining companies in the world. In addition, he supervises litigation in the states of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico, and acts as national coordinating counsel for major corporations.
Much of Tropio’s caseload involves catastrophic accidents and injuries, so Wilson Elser’s Rapid Response Team comprising “go teams” of attorneys and support personnel who handle emergencies in the field, will be of significant interest to his clients.
