Active member of the legal community finds new home at AmLaw 200 firm

Baltimore, MD (October 17, 2017) – National law firm Wilson Elser announced today that Marisa Trasatti has joined the firm’s Baltimore office as of counsel.

A civil litigator whose practice is focused on product liability litigation specifically related to pharmaceuticals and medical devices, Trasatti serves as outside General Counsel for Sciton, Inc., a medical and dermatological laser company based in Palo Alto, California, where she was seconded as in-house counsel in 2016.

Trasatti also is experienced with the broader life sciences sector, handling domestic and international regulatory issues; negotiating, designing and drafting clinical trial agreements; interpreting court pronouncements; and vetting marketing materials for domestic and international regulatory compliance.

In addition, Trasatti handles matters involving corporate, employment, regulatory and contract issues, domestically and abroad in Canada, the Middle East/North Africa, Australia, Japan, Korea and elsewhere.

“Marisa adds to our bench of skilled product liability attorneys in the greater DC Metro area and firmwide,” said Daniel J. McMahon, Wilson Elser chairman. “Her experience working with multinational companies bolsters the firm’s global initiative, Legalign Global, the alliance of four of the world’s leading insurance law firms launched earlier this year.”

Trasatti has assumed numerous leadership roles within the legal community, including president of the Maryland Defense Counsel, Maryland chapter president of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, and Corporate Counsel Symposium Committee Chair of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC), among others. She is a prolific writer and speaker and is highly regarded by her peers, having been named for inclusion in Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America since 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Among Trasatti’s most notable awards are the 2017 Andrew C. Hecker Award, presented to an outstanding FDCC author of the year, and the 2016 John Alan Appleman Award for serving as an outstanding chair of the FDCC’s Drug, Device and Biotechnology Committee.

Trasatti earned her J.D. degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law (1998), where she was senior managing editor of the Journal of International Law and Trade, and graduated summa cum laude with her B.A. degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University (1995).
