James Tucker (Of Counsel-Las Vegas) will speak on a panel, “Native Voting Rights under Threat,” at the 33nd Annual Coming Together of Peoples Conference sponsored by the Indigenous Law Student Association, University of Wisconsin Law School, on March 9, 2019, in Madison, Wisconsin. Jim and the panel will present the findings from nine field hearings conducted in seven states concerning barriers that Native Americans face in registering to vote and casting a ballot that is counted. Topics include federal legislative remedies, such as the Native American Voting Rights Act, and the impact of a Census undercount on the ability of Native Americans to have equal access to the political process.
