“A” Is for Authenticity

Center for Art Law | The ABCs of Art Law: A Is for Authenticity

Date: October 26, 2022
Location: Webcast

Jana S. Farmer (Partner-White Plains, NY) was a featured speaker along with forensic scientist Jennifer Mass for the first in the Center for Art Law’s webcast series, “The ABCs of Art Law,” on October 26, 2022. The presentation, “‘A’ Is for Authenticity,” is about the intricacies behind the authentication of artwork and the legal issues lurking beneath the surface. Specifically, are artists, their life choices or failure to keeping track of their works responsible for forgeries circulating in the market? Or is it the dealer or collector or adviser, or their attorneys who are to blame for the confusion as to which works are authentic and which fail the test? Is the old saying "buyer beware" still able to protect a dealer?

Listen to the webcast.
