Bruno W. Katz (Partner-San Diego) presents the Wilson Elser webinar “New year, new laws, new handbook” for the California Restaurant Association Legal Center on February 8, 2023. Bruno covers new laws coming into play in 2023 triggering the need for employers to update their employment handbooks. Areas requiring examination and updates include the expansion of the California Family Rights Act; California paid sick leave law and bereavement leave; and the expanded scope of laws related to discrimination regarding off-job cannabis use and reproductive health decision-making. Bruno also addresses the need for updates linked to pay scale and pay data information reporting, workplace safety and the definition of “emergency condition,” updates to COVID-19-related laws and the expansion of CalSavers.
