Edna Kersting (Partner-Chicago) will join a presentation on “Benefits Administration: Issues Unique to Long-Term Disability Claims” at the ABA’s Advanced ERISA Benefit Claims Litigation National Institute on May 20, 2016, in Chicago. This half-day program will address legal developments and the practical aspects of handling benefits claims, including administrative claims and appeals, litigation and benefits administration. Edna’s session will address the law governing these provisions and the practical concerns in addressing them, including handling offsets, requirements surrounding SSDI benefits, “own occupation” versus “any occupation” disability definitions, definitions of covered disabilities, mental health limitations, return to work provisions, retraining provisions and partial employment provisions.
