Stu Miller (Partner-New York | Florida) led Michelle Overbay, Senior Director, Risk Management Structural Group, Inc., and Harry Rhulen, CEO, Rhulen Specialty, on a panel titled “Is Your Captive Prepared for a Deadly Crisis?” at the Cayman Captive Forum held at the Grand Cayman Ritz-Carlton on December 3–5, 2024. The panel discussed the importance of having a crisis plan in place. The presenters explained the legal value of early investigation, victim outreach, and C-Suite management following a deadly event. Immediate intervention reduces indemnity spend and shortens the lifecycle of claims. Having specialized attorneys leading point cloaks the immediate investigation with privilege and provides strategic positioning from the beginning. In the article, Stu is quoted as challenging attendees with a start reality check: “In 2025, how many of you think you'll have a deadly weapon event, a deadly crisis?
