Sydney Tonic specializes in cybersecurity and data privacy incident management and response in accordance with federal omnibus laws, state data breach laws, comprehensive privacy laws, and accompanying regulations.
Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Sydney served as Associate Counsel on the Privacy and Data Protection team at a government services company, where she managed incident management and response. She routinely conducted HIPAA, OMB M-17-12, and state regulatory analyses, handled risk analysis and mitigation, and advised internal departments seeking guidance on privacy best practices. Sydney also led the team's State Privacy Rights Working Group, focused on measuring and ensuring the company's compliance with U.S. state privacy legislation governing the use of personal information. Previously, Sydney was a post-graduate Legal Fellow in Tulane University’s Office of General Counsel, where she worked on a wide array of contractual agreements related to university clinical trials and research collaboration.
