Pro Bono

Wilson Elser attorneys are passionate about pro bono. Many offer their time and talent to support access to justice, particularly among children and asylum seekers. Firm leadership champions these efforts, regarding pro bono clients as clients of the firm  deserving of the same high standards of professionalism accorded any of our legal engagements. Indeed, specific policies are in place that allow and encourage pro bono work in and around the communities we serve.

Wilson Elser maintains a dedicated Pro Bono Committee comprising attorneys and professionals throughout the firm that reports to the Executive Committee and Chair monthly and provides a year-end report. The Committee thoughtfully defines related objectives and actively implements supporting programs.

Following are examples of notable achievements on behalf of our pro bono clients:

  • Dismissal of an immigration case against two Honduran sisters, with their mother appointed as guardian.
  • Issuance of a green card to a recent immigrant following his earlier grant of asylum.
  • Dismissal of all charges brought against an elderly indigent man regarding his role in an automobile accident.
  • Successful representation of an artist otherwise unable to afford legal counsel in the sale of more than 300 of her artworks as part of a tripartite installment agreement with a New York art gallery.
