Angela W. Russell (Partner-Baltimore, MD), Ashley A. Wetzel (Associate-Baltimore, MD) and Michael J. Silvestri (Associate-Baltimore, MD) co-authored “Distance Medicine: Telepsychiatry in the Age of COVID-19” for the recent edition of the Journal of Emerging Issues in Litigation published by Fastcase. The use of Telemedicine has steadily increased in recent decades, however, since COVID-19, the increase has been exponential, particularly in the area of mental health. Angela, Ashley and Michael examine how this affects the telepsychiatry practice. The article covers inherent risks and limitations that should be understood to minimize legal liabilities, along with technology considerations, privacy concerns and more.
