Joe Baiocco litigates and manages a diverse range of civil claims in the areas of transportation, construction defect, general and product liability, and high-exposure workers’ compensation. Joe has been retained by numerous commercial trucking companies, retail chains, property owners and insurance companies to defend high-exposure bodily injury and wrongful death lawsuits throughout New York State and Connecticut. Joe also manages litigation handled by Wilson Elser attorneys and local counsel across the country and has been admitted pro hac vice in various jurisdictions from coast to coast to defend his clients. Joe is a deputy chair of the firm’s Transportation practice. Prior to joining the firm, he was a senior prosecutor in New York City.

A significant portion of Joe’s practice involves the defense of trucking companies, retailers and landowners in personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from accidents, as well as in disciplinary proceedings before licensing authorities. He regularly counsels transportation clients on independent contractor arrangements, broker-to-broker agreements and transport contracts. In addition, Joe has experience defending property owners in lead-paint poisoning claims alleging brain damage and neurological difficulties in children.

Joe’s primary client service goal is to provide high-quality, consistent work product, whether for a case or transaction in New York that he is directly handling or a matter in any other jurisdiction that he is managing through colleagues and local counsel. He is an approved provider of continuing education in several states and frequently presents programs to claims professionals and corporate legal departments. Joe has written several articles on premises security and trucking liability.
