Since the start of her legal career in 1988, Lori Proctor has focused her practice on defending health care providers. Licensed in four states, she has tried more than 100 cases throughout the country, most of which have involved defending long-term care facilities and hospitals. By virtue of her extensive litigation and trial experience, Lori is often retained to “parachute in” on cases at the trial stage and serves on  national trial counsel panels for health care companies and insurance providers.

Lori and her team defend a broad range of health care organizations and medical professionals including long-term care companies, hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, dentists, home health agencies, pharmacies, pharmacists, medical product manufacturers and drug manufacturers.

Lori has extensive trial experience in Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, Illinois and California and has successfully represented clients in appellate courts across Texas—including the Texas Supreme Court— and New Mexico. She also represents clients before professional boards, including the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, and the Texas State Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners, among others.

Lori leads a team of experienced medical and long-term care malpractice professionals including attorneys, nurse paralegals and paralegals. With their combined intellectual capital, the team is able to develop successful medical- and nursing-related defense strategies, locate and prepare effective witnesses, uncover hard-to-find documents for discovery, leverage their regulatory knowledge to defend against document-weak cases, and aggressively investigate allegations. Drawing on her degree in accounting, Lori is familiar with corporate structures and financial documents and is able to effectively cross-examine financial experts and to present accurate depictions of her clients’ companies to juries and others.

Lori speaks and writes for the State Bar of Texas’s, Advanced Personal Injury Trial and Nursing Home Litigation courses and is a featured author/speaker for the Southwest Texas State University Assisted Living Management Certificate Program. She also speaks to health care providers, nursing homes and medical clinics on topics related to avoiding litigation.

For nearly 20 years, Lori ran a civil litigation defense firm, Proctor and Associates, PC.
