Brian Del Gatto and Beata Shapiro presented at the monthly meeting of the IADC (International Association of Defense Counsel) on May 23, 2024. They discussed the rise of claims against freight brokers and shippers regarding casualty, cargo loss and other liability claims resulting from transport of cargo and the application of federal preemption pursuant to the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act (FAAAA) in different state and federal courts seeking to eliminate those claims, and offered strategies to address the host of new lawsuits across the country trying to hold shippers, brokers and other transportation entities liable for such claims
