White Plains, NY (March 9, 2021) – National law firm Wilson Elser announced today that John Flannery, Managing Partner of the White Plains office, has been named to the Board of Directors of Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation.

HVEDC, based in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., is a public-private partnership resource for businesses relocating or expanding within the Hudson Valley, a seven-county region north of New York City that includes Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Dutchess and Sullivan counties. (White Plains is in Westchester County.)

In addition to managing the White Plans office, Mr. Flannery is a member of Wilson Elser’s firmwide Executive Committee, which runs the firm. His practice focuses on civil litigation, including claims involving toxic torts, commercial disputes, civil rights, municipal and product liability, and employment litigation.

He currently sits on several area Boards:

• Westchester County Health Care Corporation – this is the board that oversees the 10 area hospitals and two physician practice groups in the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMC Health);
• United Way of Westchester and Putnam Counties;
• Pace University Law School Board of Visitors;
• Westchester County Association.

Mr. Flannery has also been active in the area of civil legal services for the disadvantaged in the community. He was on the New York State IOLA Board for 12 years and on the Legal Services of the Hudson Valley board for six years; Mr. Flannery was named the “Man of the Year” for LSHV in 2019, the year after he stepped down from their board.

Mr. Flannery earned a J.D. in 1991 from Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University, and a B.A. from Colgate University in 1988.
