David Goldhaber has a dynamic national litigation practice and serves as a trusted counselor to clients operating across multiple industries, with a focus on the transportation and logistics industries. Over the course of his nearly 30-year legal career, David’s litigation experience is as diverse as his clients, spanning several areas of focus, including transportation matters, commercial disputes, health care, and general liability matters. In addition to handling individual high-exposure cases through verdict and appeal, David has successfully defended national and local class actions, large state court consolidated proceedings and multidistrict litigation in federal courts throughout the United States. He also handles government/ whistleblower investigations and related civil false claims actions.

With a keen understanding for litigation management principles, David develops efficiencies that can be scaled across client national litigation portfolios. Toward that end, he assists clients with formulating local and national litigation strategies, developing early case assessment initiatives, creating bespoke early resolution programs, and serving as a national discovery counsel  In addition, clients leverage David’s litigation experience for advice on corporate risk avoidance and mitigation strategies, operational matters, policy development, and the creation of document retention programs.

David serves as Cochair of the firm’s Transportation Practice, consisting of more than 150 formidable attorneys working throughout the country on diverse litigation, corporate, regulatory, and counseling matters across all aspects of the transportation industry.

Professional and Community Activities
David is active in the Chicago pro bono legal community and firmly believes that giving back to the community is a core responsibility for lawyers. He supports Wilson Elser’s pro bono initiatives and has worked with the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) Foundation since 2005. In addition to serving as a court-appointed guardian ad litem, David was a member of the CVLS Governing Board of Directors from 2007 to 2014, serving as President (20112013) and Vice President of Finance (2009–2011). Today he sits on the CVLS Advisory Board and President’s Committee where he contributes to a strategic vision for the not-for-profit foundation.
