Ian Stewart (Partner-Los Angeles, CA) joined a panel discussion on July 27, 2021, for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Cannabis Insurance (C) Working Group committee meeting. The presentation, titled “Uncovering Obstacles to Offering Coverage,” discussed barriers to coverage availability and affordability. Ian and the panel addressed several topics including, federal vs. state regulatory legislation, crop coverage jurisdictions between hemp and cannabis, reinsurance requirements and how insurer risk tolerance varies by state.
