Gerry DeVega focuses his practice on the defense of claims against Florida long-term care and assisted living facilities, surgery and rehabilitation facilities and home health care providers. Gerry is a certified Florida circuit court mediator, where he serves as a passionate third-party facilitator helping disputing parties reach mutual and voluntary agreements.

Before joining Wilson Elser, Gerry spent over a decade working for civil defense firms in the Tampa Bay area, handling medical malpractice defense and long-term care facility defense. He also gained valuable experience in first- and third-party insurance defense, appellate practice and litigation matters concerning professional liability, general liability and employment and labor law.

Gerry holds an M.B.A. degree in addition to his law degree and worked in the business sector for ten years before entering the legal profession, giving him a deeper understanding of his clients’ businesses in terms of operations and finances and providing him with an added appreciation of the non-legal logistics involved in running a business.

Gerry has served as head coach, assistant coach and team manager for his three sons’ youth soccer teams, and he enjoys fostering a love of the game.
