Ian Stewart (Partner-Los Angeles, CA) was quoted in the December 16, 2020, edition of PropertyCasualty360 on last year’s stories in the news regarding lung injuries stemming from consumers vaping THC-containing products and vitamin E acetate. “What we called Vape Gate moved pretty quickly. It started in late August but was over by the end of the year,” Ian explained. “We know now, with very few exceptions, the vape issues were due to black market products.”  He added, “It gave the cannabis industry a black eye, but the lesson learned is that we need solid regulations and on a federal level. We need federal engagement with the cannabis industry to prevent issues such as Vape Gate.”
