Jacqueline Hattar (Partner-White Plains, NY) has been awarded the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Trial Lawyers Section’s 5th Annual Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Vanguard Award for 2024. The award, named in honor of the trailblazing Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is presented to a trial attorney, who has made extraordinary efforts in addressing and raising awareness about issues of equity, diversity and inclusion. Jackie is a member of Wilson Elser’s Complex Tort & General Casualty, Transportation Law and Construction Law practice teams.  She handles high-exposure general liability claims involving negligence, wrongful death, premises liability, truck/auto accidents, and construction accidents involving the New York Labor Law in all courts across the state of New York.  Jackie is a long-time member of Wilson Elser’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. She also served on the firm’s steering committee that helped to establish Wilson Elser’s Women Attorneys Valued & Empowered (WAVE) initiative, which exemplifies the firm’s enlightened approach to advancing the professional and personal well-being of its women attorneys.

“Jackie’s accomplishments are too numerous to list but suffice to say that her role as an attorney in the community, as a lawyer at Wilson Elser, as a mentor are truly impressive. It has been my pleasure to work with Jackie for more than 20 years and I am glad that she has been recognized for her long-standing efforts,” said Angela Russell, partner in Wilson Elser’s Baltimore office and chair of the firm’s DEI Committee.

Jackie, who earned her B.A., cum laude, from Fordham University and her J.D. from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, is active in numerous bar associations, charitable organizations, and her community.  She is a devoted Board member/local director of the Westchester Women’s Bar Association (WWBA) and long-time co-chair of its DEI Committee and Litigation Committee. She has served for over 15 years as the WWBA’s liaison for the Read Across America program and other events in the Yonkers Public Schools to promote reading and literacy.  Additionally, Jackie serves on the Ninth Judicial District’s Committee to Promote Gender Fairness in the Courts and is a member of the Pace Women’s Justice Center’s Advisory Board.

The award will be presented to Jackie at the NYSBA’s 5th Annual Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Vanguard Award Ceremony and CLE Program to be held on October 9, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. via Zoom. Details can be found on the NYSBA website. The program is free for members and nonmembers.
