Jana S. Farmer

Jana Farmer (Partner-White Plains) organized and led a series of law workshops for working artists for more than three years, in partnership with ArtsWestchester. Following the latest workshop in March 2020, Jana and Andrea Sobolewski (Associate-New York) answered a series of questions on legal issues affecting the art world, which was published as a Q&A in the June issue of ArtsNews, a publication of ArtsWestchester, in Westchester County, New York. Jana and Andrea pointed out that the most pressing questions that artists need answered are the ones that they do not always know to ask, given the amount of misinformation about copyright, licensing, right of privacy, etc. that is shared on social media. The article further includes recommendations for resources for artists and art world professionals to keep abreast with the developments in the law relevant to their practice, including Wilson Elser's award-winning Art Law Perspectives blog.
