When Jana Farmer (Partner-White Plains) started at Wilson Elser she gravitated to Intellectual Property and defense of Design Professionals’ liability matters. She has since developed the firm’s Art Law Practice which represents visual artists, collectors, art insurers and other art market participants. But her participation in the arts goes far beyond her legal career. She first danced as a young child in her native Russia, where she was encouraged to become a ballerina. Afterwards, she discovered her passion of ballroom dance. Today, Jana competes nationally with her husband, John, whom she met through dance. Her most memorable competition was “across the pond” at England’s The Blackpool Dance Festival, the oldest and most famous ballroom dance competition in the world. “It was always a dream to see this famous dance hall, where all of the world champions danced, and have an opportunity to compete there myself,” she says.
