Joelys Mendez assists clients in responding to cybersecurity incidents and breaches, establishing global data privacy compliance programs, and responding to state and federal regulatory investigations.

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Joelys worked as global data privacy consultant at a business services firm, where she managed data privacy program implementations for clients across industries and gained first-hand experience at operationalizing compliance programs. 

Joelys also has experience creating data privacy programs under federal and international law and across several industries including: business services, pharmaceutical/medical and hospitality. She also worked with clients to respond to regulatory inquiries and data privacy complaints under the GDPR. 

As a native Spanish speaker, Joelys offers her services in Spanish and has experience building data privacy programs in Spanish as well. 

During law school, Joelys gained in-house data privacy compliance experience, as a data privacy legal intern at a manufacturer of footwear, sports and casual apparel in Baltimore. In this role, she assisted the data privacy team in establishing their compliance program for the CCPA.

Using her past experience as a data privacy consultant, Joelys continues to build privacy compliance services and helps create customized and easily understood programs for clients. Having the legal knowledge combined with the operational experience is an asset valuable to clients and colleagues alike.
