Joseph Anzalone handles complex litigation matters, with an emphasis on the defense of general, premises and construction liability claims, including those involving New York State Labor Law, and the defense of construction defect and property damage claims. He also defends claims in the trucking/ transportation industry, representing national trucking and long-hauling companies on behalf of major insurance carriers. Joseph guides matters from their inception through resolution by settlement, dispositive motions, mediation/arbitration, and trial, actively litigating cases in various courts throughout New York and New Jersey, as well as in federal court.

Joseph has vast experience as a general civil litigator and handles all aspects of insurance defense litigation including comprehensive claim analysis, depositions, drafting legal memoranda, motion practice, and appeal.

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Joseph worked with a well-known New York City insurance defense firm where he defended some of the nation's largest insurance carriers, as well as private clients, in a wide array matters. These included New York, New Jersey, and federal court actions involving general and professional liability, New York Labor Law, housing and employment discrimination, and intellectual property claims. Joseph also has handled claims before the New York City Human Rights Commission under the New York City Human Rights Law. During law school, Joseph interned with the Notre Dame Clinical Law Center, where he represented pro bono clients in mortgage foreclosure, debt collection, and landlord-tenant matters.

Premises Liability
Joseph defends insured and self-insured commercial businesses, construction companies, restaurants, transportation companies, and landlords, among others, against all types of personal injury, property damage and contractual and common law indemnity claims.

Construction
Joseph defends high-exposure claims in large commercial and industrial building, renovation, and demolition projects implicating New York's Labor Law as well as contractual indemnification issues.

Transportation
In the transportation field, Joseph defends national trucking and long-hauling companies and "for-hire" fleets in complex litigation, including large-loss injury and death claims, freight and property claims. He understands the importance of rapid emergency response to catastrophic incidents, early case evaluation, the economics of transportation litigation and, when necessary, an aggressive defense of cases through trial.
