Krysten Kelly focuses her practice in the areas of general liability, large-scale loss, sexual abuse claims, construction law, products liability, professional liability and transportation matters. Krysten has 25 years of high-profile defense experience centered on complex, large-scale loss. She serves as trial team leader as well as a trial team member on trials both large and small, providing risk management services to clients, and obtaining favorable dispositive motion results.

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Krysten was a Senior Assistant General Counsel at the Board of Education of the City of Chicago (Chicago Public Schools or CPS), where she handled complex litigation matters, including high-profile sexual abuse cases, wrongful death matters, premises liability, transportation, construction litigation, breach of contract matters, employee benefits and employment litigation in the State Litigation Unit. Krysten also was employed by civil litigation defense firms handling matter pre-suit through post-trial that included catastrophic loss/ wrongful death, construction litigation, products liability, professional liability, transportation, premises liability, employment litigation and breach of contract matters.

During the pandemic, Krysten defended CPS in three consolidated sexual abuse matters in one of Cook County’s first Zoom trials. Her years of experience allow her to see the big picture when it comes to litigation and seek the right path for the case at hand – whether that is early settlement, dismissal, mediation or litigation through trial.
