Matthew Simmons represents businesses and individuals in all aspects of civil litigation. Matthew’s practice focuses on the defense of claims related to commercial general liability, breach of contract, extracontractual claims, insurance coverage disputes, insurance fraud and wrongful death claims. He has substantial experience handling cases involving commercial transportation and trucking accidents, premises liability, product liability and a wide array of commercial disputes. Matthew defends clients throughout the state and is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Matthew worked at a regional law firm representing businesses and individuals in a defense litigation practice where he handled personal injury, property and contractual disputes, and insurance fraud investigations.

Matthew holds an M.B.A. degree earned concurrently with his J.D. degree, giving him a deeper understanding of his client’s businesses in terms of operations and finances and providing him with an added appreciation of the non-legal logistics involved in running a business.
