Jonathan Meer (Partner-New York, NY) was quoted in “Is AI Scary or Useful? For Insurance, Both,” which appeared in the December 13, 2023, posting of CLM Magazine. The article recapped a panel led by Jonathan at CLM’s 2023 Focus Conference in Manhattan, “Apocalypse Now: Artificial Intelligence’s Impact on Insurance.”  The panel discussed how AI can produce both negative and positive outcomes in the context of the insurance industry. The article quoted Jonathan as follows, “AI has been involved in our lives for many years … it’s nothing new. But what ChatGPT did is call for the democratization of AI … putting it in the hands of the people.” Meer noted that rather than taking people’s jobs, it will give them “the free time to focus on something else.” In other words, he explained, “AI will cover the mundane tasks so human employees can shine within their expertise – not replace people completely.”
