Kathleen Wilkinson (Partner-Philadelphia, PA) was interviewed by the Legal Intelligencer in a May 25, 2021, feature article about the former Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, who has her agenda as the new President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association already planned. “I’m going back to one of my core values. Civility was always very important to me,” she said. “That’s the kind of lawyer I am. That’s how I’m going to interact with everyone this year, because that’s how I conduct myself.” There will be challenges, she said, noting that the state court’s budget woes, caused by having approximately $75 million of its funding diverted over the past three years, are threatening the survival of the state’s criminal docketing system. She said she expects the bar to be a vocal advocate in support of the judiciary’s need for adequate funding, as well as the need for an independent judiciary, which some see as coming under threat due to the politicization of the courts.
