Angela Russell (Partner-Baltimore) is among the 166 women featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 18th annual Women Worth Watching edition. In her essay, “The Enduring Importance of Role Models,” Angela notes the importance of role models and mentors who help women transcend structural challenges, unfair perceptions and personal doubt. “Individuals who have touched my life also have stressed ‘horizontal leadership,’ which focuses on teamwork and common goals. From my mother, who prioritized her family and a full-time career, to the first African American woman judge in Minnesota, for whom I clerked, to the women and men I work with every day, who provide me with unyielding support – the influence of mentors has inspired and motivated me to challenge myself and others to reach for the stars and bring others along!”
