Female attorneys have reached a new high in their share of law firm equity partnerships, according to Law360’s Women in Law Report 2024. In all, 297 firms qualified for this edition, which used firm headcounts as of December 31, 2023. Wilson Elser ranked seventh among the 79 firms with more than 601 attorneys, a nod to the firm’s efforts through the Mansfield Rule certification process. 

Women now represent 48.9 percent of non-partners at law firms, a high-water mark for the U.S. legal industry. While the gender split among non-partners is diminishing, firms are still struggling to establish parity in the upper rungs of the attorney ladder. Among participants, just 25.9 percent of equity partners and 34.6 percent of nonequity partners are women.
