Nevada Lawyer

June 2020

Author: Jorge A. Ramirez

Jorge Ramirez (Partner-Las Vegas) penned a “Day in the Life” article in the June 2020 issue of Nevada Lawyer, titled “The Ups & Downs of Running a Large Office.” An 11-year veteran of Wilson Elser, Jorge is the Deputy Managing Partner of the firm’s Las Vegas office, with approximately 30 lawyers in various practices. He appreciates the advantages of a large firm in providing the processes and infrastructure that make it possible for him to practice while completing his administrative responsibilities. Jorge also enjoys the variety leadership affords him, such as co-leading the office’s recent partnership with the William S. Boyd School of Law to create an internship program for law students. He also participated in plans for a new office with virtual flair, hoteling with no permanent offices (not even his). “The era of drab individualized offices for attorneys is behind us” he says. The new concepts also help lawyers and staff to achieve work/life balance. “The spirit, professionalism and comradery I saw throughout the firm as the COVID-19 pandemic hit home was inspiring and made the impossible possible. It made me proud to be a part of Wilson Elser as we face this challenge together.”
