Kathleen Wilkinson (Partner-Philadelphia, PA) authored The Pennsylvania Lawyer’s Women’s History Month Feature article, “Women Lawyers and Judges Making Pennsylvania History.” Kathleen provides statistics on women attorneys in the state today and a brief history of their early counterparts. She discusses women in law firm leadership roles and women bar leaders (Kathleen was the 2013 Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar and the 2021–2022 President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association). Her article includes quotes by some of the state’s prominent women leaders, including Debra Todd, Chief Justice of Pennsylvania; Anne Lazarus, Superior Court President Judge; and Stephanie Latimore, Assistant Director, Legislative Reference Bureau of Pennsylvania; among others. Kathleen notes that “Women have made and continue to make excellent contributions in the legal profession and in the judiciary. There are many women lawyers and judges who are role models through their actions and words and who demonstrate outstanding leadership. We all should aspire to their examples of professionalism and civility.”
