Sean B. Maraynes is a civil defense attorney with a focus on medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury claims. He has tried more than 40 cases to resolution as lead counsel, including matters involving wrongful death, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, New York Labor Law, and premises liability. Sean is a member of the invitation-only American Board of Trial Advocates.

Sean has developed a reputation for obtaining successful outcomes in notoriously difficult cases. For instance, Sean has obtained defense verdicts in cases involving Erb’s palsy, above-the-knee amputation and blindness.

Sean has represented physicians in nearly every medical specialty, obtaining defense verdicts on behalf of obstetricians, ophthalmologists, anesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons, and internal medicine providers, as well as academic medical centers and businesses. He has extensive experience in cross-examining medical experts, engineers, economists, and life care planners. He has tried cases in all five boroughs of New York City and its surrounding counties.

He also serves as a faculty member in the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Before entering private practice, Sean served for more than five years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, handling a wide range of violent crimes, including homicides.
