The Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice is pleased to offer a Cybersecurity Compliance Handbook for Financial Institutions & Credit Unions. The Federal Trade Commission’s Safeguards Rule requires covered financial institutions to report to the Federal Trade Commission any notification event affecting 500 or more consumers no later than 30 days after discovery of a data breach. An amendment to the Rule that went into effect in early 2024, requires financial institutions to develop, implement, and maintain an information security program with safeguards designed to protect customer information.

Wilson Elser’s Handbook provides an overview of the amended Rule and offers a detailed guide for National Credit Union Administration breach reporting and Housing and Urban Development breach reporting requirements.
